Who we are

Tim and Martia Franklin

We are a family thankful to the LORD for a Christian heritage.  Tim was born to missionaries in Brazil. God blessed him with hearing the Scriptures faithfully taught through his parents, Robert and Linda Franklin. A time of family devotions were a common evening activity and while still young, his mother led him to the LORD. He had the privilege of observing, then later, participating in missionary ministry.  After high school he came to the U.S. for Bible school with the goal of returning to teach the Bible.

Martia was born and raised in Anderson, CA. Her parents Dave and Violet Anderson are believers and she trusted Christ as her Savior at age 7. Since elementary school she knew the LORD wanted her to be a missionary. She was actively involved in serving in her church throughout high school and Bible college in Redding. During college she spent a school-year teaching at a national school in Indonesia.

We met at Shasta Bible College and were later married while Tim was in seminary in Tacoma, WA.  In 1999 we were appointed with a mission agency (ABWE), graduated from seminary in 2000 and arrived in Brazil the end of 2002.

We are blessed with four children:  Natalie (married to Ariel in 2018 with Ben born in 2019), Rebecca, Rachel and Hannah.  We consider it a privilege to serve the LORD and thank Him for the fellowship and ministry together with God’s people in both Americas.  Thus, in this sense, “who we are” as a family is intertwined with “what we do.”
